I Talk Too Much, I Share Too Much? Facebook, Twitter, Etc

Okay, one of my closest friends mentioned that I am “posting too much!”

“Sharing too much” and that “everyone” is going to get tired of listening to me. Well my friends, I sure do hope that is not the case with my friends and family. I mean, there was a time not to long ago where you would never, I mean NEVER hear a word from me. You didn’t know what I was doing, where I was or if I was okay.

Then one day I got word that a good friend of mine, Martin Boothe, had passed away. I was devastated. This was one of those defining moments in my life. I thought that we had so much more time together. He lived in London and I in New York and I just thought, assumed that we had more time. It was during this time that I re-connected with many of the friends that I met over the 50+ years that I’ve been on this great journey of life.

We are all now living in different places around the world doing thousands of different kinds of things. Many of us are raising families. And yes, a few of us have passed away. And no matter how long the years have been since we last communicated to each other, we still appreciate the moments in time that we spent/spend together.

I was “really” introduced to Facebook (and other social media) when my friend Martin passed away. When another London friend, Roberto Civitavecchia, contacted me (along with many of us around the world) via Facebook to let us know of Martin’s passing.

Over the last several weeks I have experienced so many defining moments (my mom passing away, a tv show, the suicide of a friend) that I am not going to take life nor my friends for granted.

This is also a way for me to process the emotions that I am experiencing and to move on. I share because if I hold it in it will eat away at me from the inside out.

I am committed to connecting with you as often as possible; sharing all my ups and downs, my tears and my joy. My successes and yes even my failures. My hopes and my dreams and all that I am doing – and I want to share them with my friends.

I will do all that I can to be respectful and sensitive with what I share and hope that it will encourage you and inspire you. And if I ever offend you know that my heart is to simply be genuine and transparent – not hurt you.

I am eternally grateful to learning the valuable lesson of the real value of time and friendship.

Yes I may talk too much, write too much, share too much, etc, but I know that every day is full of defining moments that are worth sharing. My hope and my prayer is that you care and that you will connect too and share your stories and your defining moments.

1/2 Marathon IS a defining moment for me!

Today I will be running 9 miles as part of my training for a 1/2 marathon that I will be doing next sunday 9/16/12. I am dedicating this race to my mom, Irene Hasbrouck, who passed away August 2, 2012 at 77 years old. (I love you mom). I will also be running this race to celebrate the reunion of my dad and I after 40+ years of estrangement.

This marathon is truly a defining moment in my life.

Thank you to all me friends around the world for your moments – past, present and future. I love and appreciate you all.
