It’s time for me to tell a story! After 30-plus years of acting, dancing, singing, fighting, falling and even skating to help others tell their stories on stage, film and TV… AND
after spending the last several years learning how to use mobile devices, smart phones, Flip cameras, HD cameras, improvised lighting and sound equipment; along with my laptop computer and video editing software to create educational videos to teach, motivate and tell short stories….it’s time to write, produce and direct my first micro budget short film.

My goal with doing this film was to start my journey in film making and learn as much as possible as quick as possible. That’s why I decided to shoot with one camera in one day at one location. Other than help from my faithful and courageous wife, Renee Chambers-Liciaga, I did everything on my own. Screenplay, Lights, Sound, Photography, Directing, Boom, Production, Gaffer, DP, Editing, EVERYTHING. The only thing I did not do was act in the film. I auditioned, hired and paid professional actors who were martial artist to do the roles.
Yes, there were many lessons learned in this experience and when I watch the film I am reminded of those lessons. I’ve shown this film to some very trusted friends and they were quick to share their critiques. I’ve even received suggestions and thoughts from people that I don’t really know who saw the trailer. It’s all quite humbling.
Before this film journey a friend of mine did remind me that being that this would be my first film endeavor that I must prepare myself to not be very good on my first film. And to give myself the permission to stink. However, if I learned the lessons that I needed to learn, then the whole experience will be not only be necessary in my growth as a film maker, but invaluable.
So….enough beating around the bush… here’s the short film…
YES THEY BLEED
“Yes They Bleed ” is a martial arts action drama short film that tells the story of a group of extremely competitive, powerful and talented martial artist that must expose their personal emotional struggles and who they really are for the once in a life time chance to be chosen as the star in a martial arts action film. It’s not their physical discipline, power, strength or speed that will win them the role, but their willingness to expose their emotional weaknesses and show that they are as fragile as anyone else…that will win them the role.
