It’s January 1st, 2013.
For the first 90 days of 2013 I am going to write a blog every day to document my preparation for my journey…
My journey this year is to be brave… be brave with my vision and my goals!
For many years, I’ve taken my life’s hard-earned lessons and used them to build me up rather than tear me down: in order to become a better person, husband, father, friend and provider. Sometimes I fall back into the same habitual breaking of paths, goals and intentions – but falling down, I found, is only my opportunity to get up.
Today is the first day of 2013. Today I will relax with my family and recover from our New Year’s eve celebrations (NO alcohol! just a late night!)
I will also spend moments to reflect on my journey to be brave this year.
I will reflect on questions like:
- Can I create a clear enough vision for myself for 2013?
- Will my vision be too big or not big enough?
- Will I align my goals with that vision?
- Will my goals be SMART?
- What will challenge me this year?
- What goals will bring me to my knees?
- How hard will I fall this year?
- How fast will I get up?
- How quickly will I learn the lessons that I need to learn?
- How quickly will I implement the lessons to get better results?
- How can I make sure I don’t sabotage myself?
- What’s a simple-but-effective way to frame the changes I want to make in the coming year?
- How many changes are too many?
- What if I don’t have a support from my core circle of friends and family?
This is what I’m going to work out and share over the next 90 days.
Statistically, they say that the percentage of people who actually succeed in achieving their resolutions are only 8%! THIS SCARES THE [BLEEP] OUT OF ME!!!
…well, I think I’ve got a simple plan…
- BE BRAVE.
- CREATE A VISION THAT IS BIGGER THAN WHO I AM TODAY.
- STAND TALL AND GET UP FAST WHEN I FALL.
- LEARN THE LESSON AND MOVE FORWARD.
- SHARE THE EXPERIENCE
- BE BRAVE.
Well, Day 1 of 90 in motion… The Year of Bravery has begun.
