BJJ Fight Afterthoughts and Reflections: Battling and Making New Friends

Peter Liciaga NAGA 2016 Championships

Two of the main reasons I LOVE competing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournaments is because:

  1. It’s FUN! and
  2. I make new FRIENDS!

I have so much fun in my matches that I sometimes feel like a fan with the best seats in the house! Whether I win or lose, I love that my opponent and I play our jiu jitsu game to see who comes up with the better answer. For me, competing brings individuals together in a unique way that helps “jump-start” incredible friendships, which helps everyone have a great time.

When I look back at over the years of all the different kinds of camaraderie. I especially love after a hard fought match, my “opponent” and I hug and thank each other for the experience…and are now friends for life.
