Parents, Work With The Person You CAN Control
Moms. Dads. People are not going to be who we want them to be. That includes our children. We’ve got to get rid of this idea that people will be what we want them to be when we want them to be it. Sure, there will be times when they will be, but people aren’t going to be what we want when we want.
People, even those people that we put on a pedestal, are going to have faults. They’re going to be weak, selfish, lazy, disrespectful, shortsighted and yes, they will have a sense of entitlement. They, you and I, will not be perfect.
That’s fine. It’s just the truth. Of course we can still learn from their weaknesses. Of course we can learn and model their strengths. But equally important we can learn from their weaknesses. We can see what they do.
But we cannot control what people do. We cannot make them who we want them to be.
The only person we can control is ourselves.
So let’s focus on making us who we want us to be.
Do you want to be faster; stronger; smarter; be more humble.
Be more disciplined.
Discipline your mind. Discipline your body.
Get up early and get out and do what you know you need to do to be who you want to be.
Become who you want to be through one. small. decision. at. a. time.
And if anyone is “impressed” by your discipline and with what you’re becoming, suggest that they WATCH what you do and get DISCIPLINED.
Parents, we have an obligation to demonstrate what it takes to become what we want our children to become. Disciplined.
Parents, work with the person you can control. You.
Have a great day.
