Good morning! this is your Mount Laurel Martial Arts Guy, Peter Liciaga, with today’s martial arts morning brief.
My quote for this morning is from Marcus Aurelius:
“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.”
Today, I would like to share about the importance of being able to make adjustments if things aren’t going right.
What that means is sometimes you have to change your plan to become successful at something.
And sometimes, the only way to realize this is for your initial plan to fail.
At this point, you have three options:
1. You can give up, which is definitely not in the spirit of being black belt strong.
2. You can try the exact same thing again, which is fine maybe one more time, but if you keep trying the same thing over and over expecting different results, you risk becoming a model of the definition of insanity.
3. Or, you can make an adjustment. You adapt, improvise, overcome the challenge and move on.
There’s a lot of truth in this little saying:
“There is always away when you know there is always a way.”
When you truly believe that you’ll be able accomplish something, even if you have to try a few different ways, you will be able to come up with a plan B, and if you need it, a plan C, and even plans D, E, and F if that’s what it takes… I’m sure you can think of a time when you tried to accomplish something and it didn’t work out so you tried a different way and it worked.
You made adjustmenst. You adapted. You improvised. You overcame. And you moved on.
Today is a new day. So embrace it with a fresh mindset, with fresh energy, know that today will present new opportunities to demonstrate your black belt strong discipline. Get your mind right and be thankful.
Until next time, be positive and live your day black belt strong.
