Things got a bit heated between myself and a good friend of mine. I care enough to be honest and to speak the truth to him. I know he’d do the same for me. We all get off track in life and sometimes a kick in the butt is needed. As a martial arts instructor AND a friend, I can’t help but be honest like that. We all need someone in our life to simply say GET UP and DO what needs to get done. What do you KNOW you NEED to DO?
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from being an actor and an entrepreneur, it’s that you gotta hustle to get the reward.
Whether you’re striving to build a successful career or a healthier lifestyle, it’s all about the hustle, hard work and follow through. The commitment. The time invested.
To learn what works, test and learn and apply. Again and again…and again.
It can be terrifying to miss the mark, but giving yourself the permission and the space to DO is liberating.
When you grant yourself the freedom to fail and learn from it, you enter the learning zone. The learning zone is that sweet spot of stretching just outside your comfort zone, right before you extend too far and hit the panic zone.
Being performing artists or a martial artists are great examples. The main difference between high-level and sub-elite performers and martial artists can be seen in their practice. performers and martial artists who practiced techniques they couldn’t do spend lots of time failing. These difficult and challenging techniques, however, are the kind that bring a high level of success on the stage or in the ring.
It takes guts, focus, hard work and hustle.
