Keep Going Anyway – A Song for the Tough Seasons

Over the last couple of days, I’ve had some deep and heartfelt conversations with people in our community — friends, neighbors, and even new connections — who are walking through some of the hardest seasons of their lives.

Some are facing loss.
Some are living with uncertainty.
Some are holding onto hope with what feels like their last bit of strength.

In those moments of listening, I’ve been reminded that life crises are not distant events that happen to “other people.” They are part of the human experience. And no matter how different the details, the feelings — fear, grief, anxiety, doubt — are things we all understand in our own way.

Why I Wrote “Keep Going Anyway”

I wrote “Keep Going Anyway” as one of my own empowering reminders.

I’ve lived 64 years filled with joy and pain, laughter and tears, gain and loss. I’ve had seasons when the weight of life made it hard to take the next step. And I know how easy it is, in those times, to question whether you can keep going at all.

This song began as words scribbled with trembling fingers, sung with a voice that didn’t always feel strong. Every lyric is a piece of my journey — from the Bronx, to the stages, to the silences in between. It’s my way of telling myself:

“No matter how dark it gets, no matter how heavy the burden, your heart still beats with purpose… so keep going anyway.”

For Anyone Who Needs This Reminder Today

If you’re reading this and you’re in the middle of your own life storm, I hope this song meets you where you are. Not to fix things or offer quick answers, but simply to stand beside you in the moment and remind you that you are not alone.

Sometimes, the most courageous thing we can do is just take the next step.

🎵 Here’s the short acoustic version — stripped down and raw, the way it sounded when it first came from my heart:

My prayer is that whether you listen to the short version, the full track, or just carry the words with you, this song becomes a companion in your journey.

Because you are never too old, broken, bruised, or beat to Keep Going Anyway.
