Kick off the holiday season with a blend of tradition and inspiration! This reimagined version of the classic carol will guide us through the values that make life brighter and stronger.
As we step into the magical countdown to Christmas, it feels like the perfect time to reflect on the season’s deeper meaning. You may be familiar with the classic carol, The 12 Days of Christmas, but did you know it dates back to the 18th century? Originally, it may have been a playful memory game at Christmas gatherings, where each day’s gift was a joyful challenge to remember all the previous ones, bringing laughter and connection to the festivities. Over time, it’s taken on a life of its own, inspiring interpretations that focus on joy, generosity, and gratitude.
This year, I wanted to reimagine “The 12 Days of Christmas” through the lens of Living Strong, and invite you to explore its deeper meanings of resilience, kindness, and connection. — drawing on values that inspire resilience, kindness, and strength in our community. Here are all 12 themes, each tied to a value that can empower us this holiday season:
Day 1: A Fresh Start
“On the first day of Christmas, I find in my heart, A reason to live strong, a fresh place to start.”
Every day is a chance to begin again, stronger and more determined than ever. The holidays remind us to embrace new beginnings with open hearts.
Day 2: Kindness
“On the second day of Christmas, I learn to be kind, With courage and patience, both heart and mind.”
Kindness is a gift that multiplies. Even the smallest acts ripple outward to make a difference. What kindness can you offer today?
Day 3: Forgiveness
“On the third day of Christmas, I choose to forgive, Let go of the grudges and truly live.”
Forgiveness isn’t just for others; it’s a gift you give yourself. Release the weight of the past and make room for joy.
Day 4: Rising Strong
“On the fourth day of Christmas, I rise when I fall, Living strong means standing tall.”
Strength isn’t about never falling — it’s about always getting back up. Let’s lift ourselves and one another.
Day 5: Inner Strength
“On the fifth day of Christmas, my strength comes alive, Through faith and hope, I thrive and strive.”
Dig deep to find the resilience within you. Faith, hope, and determination are the pillars of inner strength.
Day 6: Embracing the Unknown
“On the sixth day of Christmas, I embrace the unknown, For challenges are seeds where strength is grown.”
Stepping outside your comfort zone can be daunting, but that’s where growth happens. Let’s embrace life’s uncertainties with courage.
Day 7: Gratitude
“On the seventh day of Christmas, I open my eyes, To see life’s blessings and the joy that lies.”
Take a moment to reflect on all that you have. Gratitude transforms our perspective and invites joy into our lives.
Day 8: Dreaming Big
“On the eighth day of Christmas, I reach for the skies, Living strong means dreams never die.”
Dreams give us purpose and direction. This season, take one small step toward a dream you’ve been holding onto.
Day 9: Generosity
“On the ninth day of Christmas, I give what I can, Living strong grows with the heart of a plan.”
Generosity strengthens communities. Whether it’s your time, energy, or resources, giving helps us all thrive.
Day 10: Grace
“On the tenth day of Christmas, I walk with grace, Building strength through every space.”
Grace isn’t just elegance; it’s the strength to meet life’s challenges with dignity and compassion. Let’s carry ourselves with grace this season.
Day 11: Shining Bright
“On the eleventh day of Christmas, my spirit shines bright, Living strong means spreading light.”
Be the light in someone’s life today. A smile, a kind word, or a helping hand can brighten the darkest day.
Day 12: Love and Freedom
“On the twelfth day of Christmas, I’m grateful and free, Living strong in love, as it’s meant to be.”
Love is the foundation of a thriving community. It’s also the greatest gift we can give and receive. Let’s choose love this season and beyond.
This holiday season, as we reflect on these themes, let’s remember that Living Strong is about finding purpose, strength, and joy in our daily lives. Together, we can make this Christmas a season of growth, connection, and celebration.
Merry Christmas, and let’s continue to Live Strong!
With gratitude,
Peter Liciaga
