Bill “Superfoot” Wallace: Living Strong and Kicking High

In the world of martial arts, few figures embody the spirit of resilience and lifelong dedication as profoundly as Bill “Superfoot” Wallace. Born in 1945 in Portland, Indiana, Wallace’s journey from a high school wrestler to a karateka and eventually a kickboxing champion is a testament to the power of perseverance and adaptability.

Wallace’s martial arts path took a pivotal turn after a judo injury led him to Shōrin-ryū Karate in 1967. This setback became a catalyst for his unique fighting style, focusing predominantly on his left leg—a strategy that earned him the nickname “Superfoot.” His exceptional left leg kicks, particularly the roundhouse and hook kicks, were clocked at about 60 mph, showcasing his dedication to mastering his craft.

Holding a 10th dan black belt and the title of sōke in Shōrin-ryū Karate, Wallace has built a legacy rooted in discipline, adaptability, and a champion’s mindset. His undefeated record of 23-0-0 as the Professional Karate Association World Full-Contact Champion is legendary. Beyond his achievements in the ring, his roles in films like A Force of One and The Protector expanded his influence and introduced martial arts to broader audiences.

Even at 78, Wallace continues to adapt his training to accommodate the physical changes that come with aging. He exemplifies that age is no barrier to pursuing martial arts, inspiring fathers and grandfathers worldwide to believe that it’s never too late to begin. Wallace’s story reinforces the belief that you’re never too old, too bruised, too broken, and it’s never too late to live a strong life.

As a soon-to-be 64-year-old martial artist and grandfather myself, I find Wallace’s journey especially motivating. His philosophy aligns perfectly with my mission: to inspire adults—especially fathers and grandfathers—to embrace the transformative power of martial arts. Starting in January 2025, I will be teaching a class specifically designed for adults aged 40 and over.

Yes, we will move our bodies, but the heart of this class lies in something deeper: the timeless, life-empowering principles and concepts that are truly ageless. These are the same principles and ideas I discuss in my article, “The Art of Mastery: Exploring the Principles and Concepts Across Martial Disciplines”. From discipline and adaptability to mindfulness and resilience, these lessons transcend the physical and enrich every aspect of life.

I invite fathers, grandfathers, and anyone ready to step into this journey to join me. Regardless of the shape you’re in, you’re in great shape for the shape you’re in. This program is an opportunity to start something new and empowering. Join me for 30 days to see if it resonates with you. For more details, follow the link on this page, or just go HERE

Bill “Superfoot” Wallace’s life is a shining example of the enduring strength and vitality that martial arts can bring, regardless of age. His legacy continues to inspire us to live strong, stay resilient, and embrace the journey of lifelong learning.
